Current areas of interest include Multimedia Signal Processing, Computer Graphics, Scientific Visualization, Image Processing, and Sport Informatics. Specific recent research projects:

  • Image and Video quality assessment (SFB TRR161, DFG)
  • Sport informatics: Analysis and modeling of parameters in endurance sports (DFG)

  • Medical image processing: image compression for radiological imagery, digital angiography, clustering methods for functional imaging, automatic motion extraction for MR spectrography, segmentation of 3D ultrasound data
  • Video coding: real-time software only methods, wavelets
  • Efficient transmission of multimedia data over unreliable channels
  • Data assimilation in weather forecast simulations
